Raising Witnesses

Filed under: Our Work,Parenting — Adam Heine @ 6:42 PM

Sometimes I wonder how much good we’re doing out here. I mean, I know we’re doing good for the kids in our house; I can see that (usually). But what are we doing for The Kingdom, you know?

Pan gave us a good example the other day. Her teacher asked her about her home and her parents. Pan said, “They’re not my real parents.”

“Oh? Are they relatives?”

“No.” Then Pan explained who we are and what we do, and why she lives with us. “They’re not my real parents, but they treat me like their daughter.”

“That’s amazing!” her teacher said. “Why would they do that?”

Pan shrugged. “God’s love.”

“God? Who is God?”

[FADE TO BLACK]

When I first had it on my heart to do this, that is exactly what I hoped to do — to raise up kids who can be better, and more numerous, witnesses than I can alone. Looks like we’re doing something right at least.

  4. How awesome! I’m excited to find out you guys are Christians … I just found Adam’s writing blog and was curious about what kind of missionaries you guys were. I’m so excited you’re Christians. Very cool. I’m so excited to hear more about your ministry.

  5. Ha! Well I’m very happy to see you hear too, Amy. I always love it when my worlds (writing and missionary…ing) collide :-)
